Why this guide exists
Every spring, some version of the same conversation happens in a car in a high school parking lot. The season just ended. A teammate committed last week. And a Student-Athlete who is every bit as good is sitting in the passenger seat asking the question nobody in the car can answer. Why not me?
Sometimes the answer is talent. Usually it is not. Usually the athlete who got the offer did a handful of specific things earlier, more consistently, and more honestly than the one still waiting. None of those things required a bigger vertical or a faster sixty. All of them required a decision.
College coaches do not hand out money for talent alone. They hand it out for talent they trust.
